We absolutely loved the cottage, the surroundings and Arran. It’s a great wee hideaway and will definitely be back. We have fallen in love with Laggwood Cottage :)

28/03/07          Linda and Cameron Clark and Phoebe (the dog)
What a lovely time we’ve ad here. The weather was perfik, cottage homely, surroundings make the perfik setting. Met some lovely locals that made us feel very welcome. Need to return and see more of this ‘enchanted’ island. (Pheoebe became a country cottage dog!!)

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. The children and dog really enjoyed playing by the river and we enjoyed the short walk to the Lagg Hotel.
Arran us a great island to explore. We found some good weather and had a great day walking up to the Glenashdale falls.
Cottage nice and cosy, just a few suggestions (see separate note). Thanks for a great holiday location.

Great week but a bit damp so midgies got a good feed. Lots of wee brown trout in the river. They are quite shy! When windy the TV dropped some channels so we played games! What a beautiful island and lovely grub at the Lagg Hotel. We will be back.

23/06/07          Anne Marie and Keith Taylor, Edinburgh
Great week! Some sunny days, but more importantly some really rainy ones for tea and scrabble by the fire! Looking forward to coming back soon.

Lovely cottage and a great week. Fish on the island a bit hard to catch.

21/7/07            Chris and Julie Matheson Dear. Cameron (11), Elinor (9), Allena (6) of Linlithgow and Rolly the dog.
Happy days; as good as Cnoe at Lochranza. Magnificent beach walk up the back The bats in the roof need looking at so they stop getting into the bedrooms at night.

Great Week! A few changes on Arran since we were last here 3 years ago,  including great wee restaurant/café at Machrie golf course.

Another wonderful week on Arran. Cottage was fantastic and the welcome from the bat in the front room on our first night, set us up fro a brilliant week! ;-) Hope to use this cottage again in the future.

A lovely cottage to stay in especially with the sound of the river to fall asleep to at night. The weather could have been better for our stay but that just adds to the character of Arran. What a great week!

11/8/07            Jan, Nigel. Laura and Charlotte Dunn. Jean Cobb, Topsy and Emma the dogs.
Had a lovely week. Really liked the cottage. Dogs loved the sea.

Lovely – well equipped cottage. Our first time on Arran – we enjoyed the distillery, deer and eagles at Lochranza; seals at Kildonan; hen harrier on the Ross road and the beach at Blackwaterfoot. Lovely meal at the Lagg Hotel.

A lovely holiday. We enjoyed the walk to the beach and most of all playing hide and seek. I love the smell of lavender. Mum said the sunflowers were like Jack and the Beanstalk. Hope to be back soon. From Elysia age 8.

What a fantastic way to see in the New Year! We all loved the cottage and the wonderful walks around Arran. We have had rain (quite a lot), snow, wind and a little sun. Saw our first otter, lots of seals and drank lots (far too much) excellent whisky. We would love to come back in the summer. What a long way to come to walk the dog!

29/12/08          Beth Saunders, Lower Froyle, Hampshire.
What a cosy warm brilliant cottage this is and a fantastic way to spend a Happy New Year. The walks here are FAB! There’s so much to see. I saw otters, seals and eagles. I have had a fantastic time and I have really enjoyed it. Beth age 11.

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. Everything we needed was here and the setting is beautiful. We particularly enjoyed seeing the red squirrels and throwing stones in the river. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Six friends enjoyed a brilliant few days in a fantastic cottage. Climbed Goat Fell and coastal walk. Great pub but spent a lot of time enjoying the cottage and garden. Hope to come again.

Here we were: Grandma, Grandad, Rick , Leah, Connor and me! A wonderful sunny week in May, only one day of drizzle. On our island tour we say 2 eagles, 1 seal, 3 stags, 1 doe and lots of sheep, cows and my favourite the highland cows! Conner (aged 3 ½) enjoyed all of his holiday, the garden here has been excellent for games and paddling in the river. Grandad did battle with the midgies and lost, so he enjoyed the windy days. The cottage is wonderful, very well stocked, we played some games but the sun shone and we sat out. Thank you – the Bowers Family!

6/6/08              John, Margaret and Georgie, Glasgow
A beautiful week of weather, apart from one rainy day – much needed for the garden. We’ve had our own “Springwatch” here with all the birds coming to feed, especially the busy Bluetits in the nesting box.
John went fishing un Loch Garbad and lost count of the number of fish he hooked and threw back. He was very happy as he’d had no luck fishing in the Kilmory Water in the garden. The “Skin so soft” was used liberally and seemed to keep the midgies at bay most of the time.

Lovely spot; great, comfortable house with just enough space to really relax in. A perfect base for an action packed fun filled week of outdoor activities and lots of fresh air… Recommended!

A perfect cottage for some much needed relaxation. Welcoming abr just over the road and some great walks just on the door step. Our weekend here has flown by - will definitely need to come back to explore more of the island!

5/7/08              Duncan, Jane, Finlay and Calum, Linlithgow.
Lovely comfortable cottage with perfect garden for badminton for the kids. Very good food across the road at the hotel. Great base for exploring the island. Saw dippers and wagtails in the river.

Excellent week of walking and mountain biking. Enjoyed tasting local malt and beer.

19/7/08            Dorothy, Albert, Stuart and Kirsty and Bracken the Border Collie. (Fiona and Mark for 1 night), Alexandria.
Had a wonderful week, visited by bats on two nights, a great cottage, weather was changeable but when the sun was out it was lovely. Arran has some wonderful beaches – hope to be back.

9/8/08              Colin, Cathrine, Isla, Craig and Archie, Cheam, Surrey
Lovely unspoilt island. Rained most mornings and sometimes brightened up later on. Walks at Glenashdale Falls, Cnocan Gorge, 2 walks to the beach where tiny shrimp were caught in rock pools.
Loved the cottage – kids loved the garden and the river. Isla (9) caught a trout on her 3rd cast and one day we had 10 trout to 8oz. Caught trout on the fly as well!
Washing machine is good, make sure you bang the door shut and it will start. Drier works but you need to wedge the door on and it will start (drier replaced in September 2008)

9/9/08              Martina and Haiko aus Hamburg

Enjoyed your cottage immensely. Pretty location, easy access to the beauty spots or Arran and particularly the taxing and picturesque golf courses! Enjoyed the proximity to the beach and bramble picking en route.  Spotted red squirrels on numerous occasions in the garden. Weather was perfect too. Wonderful, thank you so much.

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments!
